WWA Wakeboard World Championships Returns to Orlando

Orlando, Fla. — For the first time since 2004, the top pro and amateur wake athletes on the planet will battle it out on the waters of Orlando, Fla., for world titles, as the ROCKSTAR WWA Wakeboard World Championships, presented by Supra returns to the mecca of wakeboarding on Aug. 27-30, 2009. 

This four-day-long event is hosted by the World Wakeboard Association (WWA), and features riders from around the globe vying for world titles in 20 divisions, separated by age and skill level.

Since 2004, the WWA Worlds have been held in Australia, Texas, Nevada and most recently in Oklahoma.

Last year, the 2008 Worlds featured 16 divisions, with 13 titles going to the United States and one title each going to Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom.

The 2009 Rockstar WWA Wakeboard World Championships, presented by Supra is a four-day-long carnival of water-sports action. But not all of the action takes place on the water. On land, fans will experience tons of great music and food, athlete autograph signings, chances to win free giveaways, and shopping at the most cutting-edge stores offering water-sports equipment, including boats, wakeboards, wakeskates, sunglasses and the latest in wakeboarding and surfing fashions.

The WWA Wakeboard World Championships is also the fifth stop on the 2009 WWA Wakeboard World Series – an international showcase for the sport, which in its fifth year will visit four continents across the globe.

King of Wake

Viewed as the world’s elite pro wakeboarding circuit, the King of Wake series has attracted the sport’s top athletes from around the world. With more than $300,000 in prize money over the eight-event season, athletes compete during the course of the year to be named the King of Wake – an award based on points accumulated at each stop of the series. Events include the Wake Games, the WWA Wakeboard National Championships, the WWA Wakeboard World Championships and all five stops on the Pro Wakeboard Tour. Team IWS at Pomerelle Slopestyle

The Pomerelle Mountain Resort Slopestyle was a big success for Team IWS this past Saturday. Team IWS threw down and went home with four trophies from the event.

Pomerelle Mountain Resort Slope Style Competition

Competition will take place on the new 'Colt 45' terrain park. The new park includes eight features: 25’ table top jump, 45’ table top jump (still in building stage), 20 foot box, down flat rail, 20’ street style hand rail, tree stump jib, dragon box, up flat box.
